Japanese company Kumamoto Energy, a producer and supplier of electricity from the city of Kumamoto, began using solar energy for mining. The company is also affiliated with "Take Energy Corporation Co" Ltd, the largest corporation that manages solar power plants in the prefecture. The activities of the subsidiary "Kumamoto Energy" "OZ Mining", are aimed at the effective use of surplus electricity produced by mining farms.
"OZ Mining" regularly purchases electricity from "Kumamoto Energy" at a price of $ 10-19 per kW, depending on the delivery area, contract conditions and season, and establishes mining farms where there is available energy and depending on the needs of the customers.
Mining is often criticized for the waste of electricity: the crypto-mining industry absorbs power plants and will grow exponentially until most of the electricity on earth is used to create coins. In particular, we are talking about the mining of Bitcoins, which consumes more energy than some countries, which will lead to an ecological catastrophe if it is not stopped.
However, the "Kumamoto Energy" initiative proves that thanks to digital assets and renewable sources, one can approach the ecological future.
