The American Time magazine has named Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Innovation of 2021. Along with Buterin, Time's innovators include Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanyan commented on Buterin's role in the development of Ethereum, whose market capitalization has already exceeded $ 415 billion. Decentralized applications are being built based on this network, and it has become especially popular among developers creating non-fungible tokens (NFT).
"From the very beginning, I followed Vitalik Buterin's achievements, so I am proud to watch his project grow. Vitalik is a creator and that makes him special. No one could have come up with so many uses for Ethereum, and it took a one-man idea. Vitalik discovered new ways to use blockchain technology and I have invested in some of them. Be it startups, fantasy games or NFTs, none of this would exist without Vitalik's creation,"
Ohanyan wrote in a commentary on Buterin's profile at Time.
Buterin is also known for his large donations to charity. A few months ago, he sold all the crypto memes in his possession for 15,719 ETH and donated these funds to charitable foundations. Among them was the Indian Foundation to Fight Coronavirus.
The popular Time magazine has become more open to reporting on the world of cryptocurrencies. Moreover, it has begun to incorporate digital assets into its business processes.
In March, Time said it was looking for a CFO who is well versed in cryptocurrencies. In addition, the magazine auctioned three NFT covers. In April, Time announced that it would accept BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC, DOGE, and other cryptocurrencies to pay for subscriptions.
